Need a refuge from the hustle and bustle of modern life? Find it in the heart of Coconut Grove at The Barnacle Historic State Park. Nestled alongside beautiful Biscayne Bay, this park gives you an authentic experience of Old Florida. The Barnacle was the home of Commodore Ralph Middleton Munroe, one of Coconut Grove´s most charming and influential pioneers.
The Barnacle, built in 1891, offers a glimpse of Old Florida. One can well imagine how life may have been as he and his family made a home on the frontier in South Florida. Commodore Munroe was known to share this paradise he'd found, and now you and your family can
share
this amazing Florida park!
Ralph Munroe was passionate about the natural world, and when you visit, you’ll feel the same way. This Florida park is representative of the original landscape within the city of Miami along Biscayne Bay. Today, it is one of the last remnants of the once-vast Miami Hammock. Enjoy a picnic surrounded by beauty, or take a tour. Relax in the rocking chairs on the spacious porch,
or on a bench underneath a tree.
The Barnacle Historic State Park offers a full season of events, including Moonlight Concerts, Old Time Dances, Starlight Movie Classics and the Firefly Lawn Party! And every Wednesday from 6 p.m.-7:30 p.m., you’re invited to join us for Yoga by the Sea with Gabriela Goldbaum. Meditate and exercise in the tranquility this Florida park offers.
